Had a blast at the Hunt the October Horse Creek WMA Group Hunt. It was a pleasure to give back to an organization that I love. You couldn’t ask for a better group of folks. We had a big turnout. I have 34 names on the list that attended. We had tic tac toe Tradbow going on all weekend and had some amazing matchups. We had night shoots every night as well. Friday nights feast was fried red snapper, crappie, catfish and alligator with hush puppies and French fries. Saturday nights meal was Boston Butts, collard greens, baked beans and salad with Dutch oven baked desserts prepared by Allen Oliver. I want to thank Randall Todd White and Cain Almand for helping with all the cooking. I couldn’t have done it without them. We had a river taxi dropping folks off and picking them up after dark. Most everyone saw a pig or deer and the hunt ended with 4 deer taken and 2 hogs. We ended up with 8 “confessed misses” I’m sure there were a few “unconfessed misses” as well! Chad Kimbrell won both coon shoots and the tic tac toe Tradbow champion. He took home an outdoor edge knife, a nice fanny pack, and a new XOP vanish trees stand. Dan Montgomery from Pennsylvania won the squirrel shoot and went home with a torges seat made by Al Chapman. Thanks to everyone that donated prizes and everyone that showed up!
